Six seats were up for grabs, and voters have elected four new members to the Anchorage Assembly. Incumbents Dick Traini and Paul Bauer lost to newcomers, while Bill Starr and Chris Birch were able to maintain their seats. Also elected last night were Patrick Flynn and Harriet Drummond, who both won seats vacated because of term-limits. KSKA’s Len Anderson has the full report.
A surprising number of propositions were also passed by voters yesterday. They include funding for improving everything from local schools to Sullivan Arena. Voters also overwhelmingly rejected an attempt to deregulate Anchorage’s taxi cab industry. KSKA’s Len Anderson breaks down the results.
